What's Teen Advisory Board?

Did you know that most public libraries have Teen Advisory Boards (TABs)? Sometimes they're also called Teen Advisory Groups (TAGs) or some other combination of words that mean basically the same thing.

So why do they exist?

These groups are designed to give teens and tweens voices within their libraries! They're safe spaces where students can give honest feedback about library services, propose or create programs, help with selecting books, and so much more. Got an idea for a program? Go to TAB! Want to help the library and the community? Go to TAB! The possibilities of what a group of teens can create are endless, sometimes they just need a platform to help get them started.

Our TAB meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 3:00pm in our Community Room. We'll usually do some sort of activity that gets teens talking so you can expect that (and maybe snacks). Students in grades 6-12 are invited to participate and volunteer hours are awarded for the time they spend here.

Previous TAB projects include planning an 80s-themed murder mystery party, Stranger Things escape room, winter craft party for kids, and study buddy bags to give out during finals. Pretty cool, huh?

If you'd like to help us run our TAB meetings, stay tuned for officer elections coming in September. TAB officers meet one extra time per month and help us prep the next meeting.

You can register for each TAB meeting through our event calendar. The next one is August 7th!

We hope to see y'all then.
