Want to be a Teen Advisory Board Officer?

It's that time again to choose our TAB Officers for the upcoming school year! Interested teens must be entering grades 8-12. Submit your interest in one (or more) of the positions below by our next TAB meeting on Wednesday, September 4th.

Perks of being a TAB Officer:
  • Plan and lead each TAB meeting
  • Earn extra community service hours for attending officer meetings and special events
  • Represent the library's Teen Department at community and school events
  • Help create special projects, reading programs, and other fun library happenings
  • Be the first to hear about all the awesome library news!

Available positions:

President

  • TAB President is responsible for leading each TAB meeting, ensuring we cover each topic on the agenda. TAB President will delegate tasks as necessary, keep a detailed list of the activities/programs implemented by TAB, and serve as a primary point of contact for the group.
Vice President
  • TAB VP is responsible for leading meetings when the President is unavailable, or co-leading meetings if the President/VP would like to lead together. VP will ensure all voices are heard during each meeting and often researches other library TABs then reports those findings back to the group.
Secretary
  • TAB Secretary is responsible for taking attendance at each meeting and making sure new members fill out a teen volunteer profile (to collect contact information). TAB Secretary will also record meeting minutes that will be posted to this blog.
Treasurer
  • TAB Treasurer will help keep track of program supplies and make sure additional purchases adhere to the club's budget. Before each meeting, TAB Treasurer will ensure we have gathered all of the supplies necessary for that day's activities.
Expectations:

TAB Officers are expected to attend each TAB meeting (1st Wednesday of the month at 3:00pm) and all TAB Officer meetings (One Thursday per month at 3:00pm). Officers will work closely as a group to create agendas for each monthly meeting as well as short-term and long-term goals for the group.

Additionally, officers may have the opportunity to represent the Teen Department at outreach events with the hopes recruiting new TAB members and hyping up the library.

Ready to apply?

Email etomlin@northhavenlibrary.net with your name, the position(s) you're running for, and why you think other teens should choose you to lead our group. This will serve as your campaign speech!

At September's TAB meeting, teens will have the opportunity to give their speech to the group. Speaking to the group isn't a requirement, but we do think it's great practice. All candidates will be added to the ballot and voted upon that afternoon.

We hope you'll consider applying for this great leadership opportunity. Please reach out if you have any questions.

- Emily T., Teen Librarian
