Memorial Day

Memorial Day is one of the most important days of the year. It is a day to honor those who have passed in the U.S. Military. It is a day of mourning but is also meant to be enjoyable, not a boring day of doing nothing.

History of Memorial Day

Originally called Decoration Day, it was created after the Civil War, and at first was meant to recognize those who died in it. But over time, it became a way to honor and respect everyone who died in the U.S. Military. In 1971, it was officially made a national holiday and has been celebrated heavily ever since.

Where Can I Celebrate Memorial Day?

It is very important to celebrate Memorial Day to show your respect for the sacrifice people have made for this country. The North Haven Memorial Day Parade will take place on Saturday, May 24, 2025 and will start at 10:30 AM, and is a great way to celebrate! If you can’t attend that, there are still ways to honor veterans and those who have passed. If you own an American flag, fly it at half-staff until noon, then raise it to full-staff after that. This is another way to honor fallen soldiers.
