Golden Days Ahead

Finally it’s summer! Usually, the first semester of school is the easiest and more fun than the second semester. The first semester includes fun things like the first day of school, joining sports and clubs, making new friends, Halloween, Homecoming, Thanksgiving break, winter break, Christmas, and New Years. But then the second semester begins and there’s midterms, course selection, more heavy course work, and final exams. By the last two weeks of school, everyone’s tired of the homework and tests/quizzes. Now in summer everyone has a bunch of free time. But not to worry, there are a bunch of activities that you can do to not get bored in the North Haven community.

The North Haven Memorial Library has a teen and children summer reading program where you can do fun activities, keep up with your reading, and win cool prizes. Also, the library has a Mario kart scavenger hunt which is a part of the teen summer reading program but you can do it even if you’re not in the summer reading challenge. You get a free Dairy Queen blizzard if you finish the scavenger hunt and all you have to do is come to the first floor of the library and ask for a paper at the Information Desk! If you’re a high school student looking for volunteer hours or just a teen that’s looking to make friends, then you should check out the library website for teen volunteer opportunities like the teen advisory board (TAB). Other things you can do in summer are enjoy a pool day at the North Haven community pool, take a walk outside, go to fun places like amusement parks, and hang out with friends. Enjoy your summer and make the most of it!
