How to Transition to a New School Year

In North Haven, school starts on Monday, August 25. If you have not yet done so, it is time to start preparing for this new school year.

Sleep Schedule

I’m sure most people have gotten used to sleeping in until 8, 9, or even later during the summer months. But if you don’t transition your sleeping habits it is likely you will not be ready to wake up early for school. Let's say you have been sleeping in until 8:30 every day. When you have to wake up around 6 for the first day of school, you are still going to feel tired. This is not optimal for being prepared to start the new school year. What I would do is try to wake up 30 minutes earlier each day so you can get fully adjusted to getting less sleep or going to bed earlier.

Summer Work

Most people have some summer work to do and it is important to get it done so you can be ready for class and have a good first impression on your teachers.

Getting Packed

You may have packed for vacations this summer but the last trip you’ll be packing for is school. Make sure you have a backpack with enough notebooks, folders, pencils, books, and anything else that may be required for your classes.
