The Rule of Three Book Series

What happens when suddenly all modern conveniences are stripped away?

Since we just came out of a blizzard, I thought I would write about a series I recently read called The Rule of Three by Eric Walters. The novel begins with a sudden and terrifying event: the power goes out. Not just in one town. Not just for a few hours. It goes out everywhere—and it doesn’t come back on.

Adam Daley is a regular high school student whose life is instantly transformed when technology fails. Phones stop working. Cars stall. Computers die. Within days, society begins to unravel. What makes this series especially compelling is how realistic it feels. There are no zombies or monsters…just ordinary people trying to survive when modern conveniences disappear.

As the series continues (there are three books in the series), readers watch Adam grow from a typical teenager to a courageous leader. The books explore how quickly civilization can change when systems collapse and survival of the fittest takes over. Friends and neighbors begin to turn on one another and the “blame game” runs rampant. Eventually, neighbors must band together, realizing that difficult decisions have real consequences. It’s a series that not only entertains but also makes readers think: What would I do if I was faced with the same situation? Could the situations in the book actually happen?
