A Good Girl's Guide To Murder Review

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson is one of those books where once you start it, be prepared to clear off your whole schedule for the next 24 hours. Yes, it is that addicting. Chances are, you won’t even need the full 24 hours to finish the book. If you’re a fast reader, it should be a quick, long car-ride read. The story follows high-schooler Pippa Fitz-Amobi, who decides to take a different approach to her senior project. Pippa (Pip) re-opens a murder case in her town that has haunted the community for the last five years. Feeling that the end result of the trial was unfair, Pip takes the case into her own hands and talks to the family and friends of the suspected killer and victim. The case follows high school senior Sal Singh, who was tried for murdering his girlfriend, Andie Bell. Her body was never found, although his was found in a forest after a supposed suicide. Sal was convicted of killing Andie, with little to no evidence besides that fact that they were together when she disappeared. Like with any book, Pip faces setbacks and challenges with her project. Interviewees unwilling to answer questions, and community criticism for trying to bring justice to a supposed killer. 

This book had me guessing at every turn, and I had a new theory of what really happened every other page. Characters that I never suspected seemed to be coming out with new secrets every day, and my brain was doing somersaults while trying to solve the mystery. It is an amazing read for those who love a thriller murder-mystery that can mess with your brain, and make you question the true intentions of those around you.
